TrustFord News TrustFord to pay UK-based colleagues the voluntary Real Living Wage

22 February 2022

TrustFord, the UK’s largest Ford dealer Group, has committed to pay the Real Living Wage as a minimum hourly rate, effective from 1st April 2022, in line with its ambition to be an Employer of Choice.

Compared to the National Living Wage, which is legally binding for workers aged 23 and over, the real Living Wage Foundation’s rates are voluntarily paid by UK businesses. The calculation is reviewed every year, and includes a separate rate for London, where the cost of living is higher.

TrustFord joins thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as AVIVA, Burberry and Lush, who have committed to pay the ‘real’ Living Wage to all colleagues, excluding apprentices. All colleagues will be paid the £9.90 real Living Wage (£11.05 in London).

TrustFord, which employs over 3,000 colleagues across the UK and Channel Islands, has also announced that they will be significantly raising Sales and Aftersales basic salaries. Major changes will also come into force to reduce working hours and increase 5 day week contracts in their quest to ensure colleagues can balance their professional and private life.

In line with their ambition to grow and retain the best people, the company has also recently introduced flexible working hours across all current and future job vacancies, as well as a Hybrid working policy for all relevant jobs, with colleagues now able to choose to work from home some days with a minimum of 2 days a week spent in the workplace.

Sharon Ashcroft, Human Resources Director at TrustFord, said:

“In line with our ambition to be an Employer of Choice, paying a minimum of the real Living Wage is absolutely the right thing to do for our people. We believe in paying a meaningful salary for all of our colleagues and making a positive impact on their lives.

Investing in our people and offering flexible working hours & a Hybrid working policy, means we can help our colleagues establish a positive work-life balance, ensuring we attract & retain the best and most motivated people. We also hope it will attract more females to the automotive industry – something which is very close to my heart.”

TrustFord were previously ranked 20th in the Sunday Times Best Big Companies to Work For 2020. This was the fifth year running that the company made the list.
